We are excited about the next Neural Mechanisms webinar this Friday (10th). As always, it is free. You can find information about how and when to join the webinar below or at the Neural Mechanisms website—where you can also join sign up for the mailing list that notifies people about upcoming webinars,
Information Theory is a Formal Theory of Representation
Abstract. Information theory is a formal theory of representation. All signals in an information-processing pipeline are, in a minimal sense, representations. Core cases of representation are those for which, furthermore, a description in information-theoretic terms is particularly illuminating—that is, those that undergo substantial source- or channel-coding.
