Policies

Please feel free to contact the managing editors of Brains if you have any questions or concerns about these policies.

Comment Policy

Brains aims to be a forum for open and honest discussion of important philosophical issues. To this end, anonymous commenting is permitted, and comments are not screened before they are permitted to appear on the blog. However, there will be no tolerance for hostile, derogatory, or otherwise abusive comments — they will be deleted immediately, and those who submit such comments repeatedly will find themselves banned from commenting. In addition, all commenters must submit a valid e-mail address along with their comments, and those who wish to remain anonymous are encouraged to adopt pseudonyms in order to make it easier to refer back to them in subsequent discussions.

Translation Policy

As of August 2022, we are following similar academic group blogs by allowing translations of future posts to be hosted on other sites if the following conditions are met:

  • the original Brains post is properly cited (with a link to the article on Brains and the author’s name)
  • the translation remains free for anyone to access (like it is on Brains)

Translators can obtain rights to translate and host Brains posts published before August 2022 by sending a copy of the post authors’ permission (to translate) to the managing editors and meeting the two conditions above.
