With the Minds Online conference now in the rearview mirror we are back to regular programming here at Brains, including two upcoming journal symposia and visits from the authors of several new and forthcoming books:
- Beginning tomorrow, Tuesday 10/11, Carl Gillett will blog for several days about his book Reduction and Emergence in Science and Philosophy, newly published by Cambridge University Press.
- Beginning next week, on Monday 10/17, we will host our next Mind & Language symposium, on “Solving the puzzle about early belief-ascription” by Katharina Helming, Brent Strickland, and Pierre Jacob. Commentaries will be provided by Daniel Hutto, Josef Perner, Peter Carruthers & Evan Westra, Rose Scott, Marco Fenici, and Hayley Clatterbuck.
- During the week of November 14 our featured author will be Mark Rowlands, discussing his book Memory and the Self: Phenomenology, Science and Autobiography, forthcoming from Oxford University Press.
- During the week of December 5 our featured author will be Annalisa Coliva, discussing her book The Varieties of Self-Knowledge, published recently by Palgrave-Macmillan.
- And during the week of January 30 our featured author will be Michelle Montague, discussing her book The Given: Experience and its Content, published recently by Oxford University Press.
Also in the works are visits from Barbara Montero, author of Thought and Action: Expertise and the Conscious Mind (OUP, 2016) and Thomas Polger and Lawrence Shapiro, authors of The Multiple Realization Book (OUP, 2016), as well as a symposium on Alex Madva’s “A Plea for Anti-Anti-Individualism: How Oversimple Psychology Misleads Social Policy”, forthcoming in Ergo: An Open-Access Journal of Philosophy.
