IJCNN 2007 Special Session on Philosophical Aspects of Neural Network Modeling

We would like to invite you to submit a paper for the IJCNN 2007 Special Session on Philosophical Aspects of Neural Network Modeling.

The special session considers research and development in the area of artificial neural networks especially by examining their significance for different areas of science. Neural networks are nowadays used to model widely different phenomena in various scientific fields such as linguistics, physics and economics, for example. From the philosophical perspective this is an important and interesting phenomenon: it leads us to consider neural networks as generalized computational templates that travel across different disciplines. This in turn is bound to thematize a host of philosophical issues, such as representation and unification, anew.

We invite papers that consider the significance and multiple uses of neural network models from a wider philosophical and multidisciplinary perspective.

More detailed information on the themes of the session can be found at https://www.cis.hut.fi/tho/ijcnn07.html
