As some of you know from previous posts, Sam Scott and I have written a paper on Splitting Concepts, forthcoming in Philosophy of Science. When it comes out, our paper will be followed by a response by Edouard Machery, entitled How to Split Concepts (posted with his permission). He did a good job in resisting our arguments in most of the places where he and we disagree. I was not convinced by his reply, but I was impressed.
Update: I concur with Edouard’s comment to this post: It would be very interesting to know what others think about this issue.
Thanks for these kind words, Gualtiero.
It would be nice to see what others have to say on this debate (besides you, Dan Weiskopf, me and a few other people).
