CFP: PC 2015

The 6th International Workshop on Physics and Computation (PC 2015)

(A satellite workshop to Unconventional Computation & Natural Computation 2015)

31 August – 4 September 2015
University of Auckland, New Zealand

Special session on Physics and Computation at the Conference on Unconventional Computation & Natural Computation 2015

The 6th International Workshop on Physics and Computation (PC 2015) will take place at the University of Auckland, New Zealand as a satellite workshop to the 14th International Conference on Unconventional Computation & Natural Computation (UCNC 2015). The workshop will run for two days alongside the UCNC conference between 31 August and 4 September 2015.

This workshop is an interdisciplinary meeting aimed at bringing together researchers from various domains at the intersection of physics and computation. This interdisciplinary area of research covers issues relating to the interface between the theories of computation, computability and information and their application to physical systems, including quantum, biological and relativistic methods of computation.

TOPICS

We welcome extended abstracts and paper submissions for presentation on topics relating to physics and computation. Typical, but not exclusive, topics include:

Axiomatisation of physics: completeness, decidability, reduction
Church-Turing thesis
Dynamical systems: computability, complexity
Hypercomputation
Novel models of computation
Philosophy of physics and computation
Quantum computation and information
Quantum logics
Randomness: quantum, dynamical & physical randomness
Molecular computation and reaction-diffusion models
Multiple-substrate computation
Relativistic computation
Theory of measurement: axiomatisation, complexity

INVITED SPEAKERS

Joe Fitzsimons (Centre for Quantum Technologies, National University of Singapore)
Clare Horsman (University of Oxford)

IMPORTANT DATES

Submissions Deadline: 11 May 2015
Notification of Acceptance: 19 June 2015
Final Versions Due: 20 July 2015
Workshop: 31 August – 4 September (UCNC dates, workshop will cover 2 days)

SUBMISSIONS

Authors are invited to submit either original papers (up to 12 pages) or an extended abstract (4–5 pages) to be presented at the conference.

Submissions should be prepared in LaTeX/PDF using the EPTCS style (https://style.eptcs.org/) and submitted via EasyChair by the 11 May 2015: https://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=pc2015.

The proceedings will be published in Electronic Proceeding in Theoretical Computer Science (EPTCS) and will be available online prior to the conference date. Following the conference, we will invite revised and extended versions of the accepted papers to be considered for publication in a special issue of the International Journal of Unconventional Computing.

REGISTRATION & PARTICIPATION

PC 2015 is part of the broader UCNC conference and all costs are included in registration for the primary conference. To attend, please register for the conference at: https://ucnc15.wordpress.fos.auckland.ac.nz/ Please visit the workshop website for further information.
