It is with great sadness that I report the death of our colleague and friend Jon Altschul. Jon was a recently tenured member of the Loyola New Orleans Philosophy Department, a philosopher of mind, and epistemologist. Among other topics, he worked on perception and epistemic entitlement (see, for example, here: https://www.iep.utm.edu/ep-en/). He also founded “Philosophy Kids” an outreach program at Loyola designed to provide after-school philosophy classes for underserved children. Jon was an excellent teacher, wonderful colleague, involved member of the university, and an all around great guy. He will be greatly missed.
